My Favorite Bras
I've been in many women's closets as a personal stylist, and one question that almost always comes up is, "Can you recommend a good bra?" I love this question because the right bra can make a difference in how your clothes fit and look. Having at least three types of quality bras in your lingerie drawer will ensure you have the right type for every situation.
Here are three styles of bras I believe every woman should own:
#1 A "T-shirt" bra. I have a number of these and rotate them so they will last. Depending on your breast size and need for support, the details of this bra will vary. But for most women over a certain age, an underwire is preferred. Most women find that their breasts need a little more um "corralling" (does that make sense?) as we get older. Underwire helps with this, but only if it's done well. This is where a quality bra makes a difference. When you invest in quality bras, you will feel the difference and will not have to replace them nearly as often.
The Wacoal Embrace Lace T-shirt Bra is my favorite for this category. This bra has thin foam cups that corral (yes, I'm still using that word) your breasts and provide the perfect shape when wearing a T-shirt or sheer top. The lace band under the cups is also so beautiful.
#3 A Lace Bra. It wasn't until recently that I realized the joy of a beautiful lace bra. It's something just for you. Or maybe, just maybe, it'll be seen if your blouse is unbuttoned a little lower. I think women in the US tend to be more "buttoned up" (literally) when it comes to showing lingerie, but when it's done minimally and balanced with an otherwise more classic look, I think it's elegant and chic.
Investing in good bras is worth it. And having something beautiful under your clothes is a mood boost!

Did you know most women wear the wrong size bra? I recently discovered that Wacoal offers free virtual bra consultations. Try it before you order a new bra to ensure you're wearing the right size. The cup size changes with the band size, so getting this right is important. It's a game-changer and worth a short visit with a bra fit expert via Zoom—and why not? It's free!
