Meet Daisy

“Getting dressed should be easier! I want to simplify women’s lives and help them look & feel great so they can focus on the important things in their lives.”

– Daisy Tinsley Barnett

Daisy is a visual storyteller with a passion for design located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her career in advertising, branding, marketing, and media production created the foundation for her approach as a fashion stylist and coach. When developing a brief for a campaign, the first question is, “what is your message?” She uses this same methodology when styling her clients because what we wear sends a message about who we are. Her first step is discovering who you are.

Daisy is obsessed with fashion history, design, brands, textiles, tailoring, fit, color, patterns, trends and craftsmanship. While working in marketing at Apple, she collaborated with talented artists and designers and learned to appreciate a simplified design aesthetic that allows room for and is juxtaposed by unexpected creativity, color and art.

When her daughter was born, she started a children’s clothing line, but the time wasn’t quite right for her to move into the world of fashion just yet and she returned to media production. After another decade leading creative teams, creating branded marketing content, Daisy finally decided to leverage her experience, insights, and her natural talent and passion for styling to create THE DAISY EDIT.

About my personal style

I am delighted to spend my days doing something that is more hands-on, creative, rewarding and personal. After years of dressing for work, I know about the importance of creating easy-to-assemble professional looks. I also love to attend events, entertain and travel so have quite a few tricks up my sleeve for “what to wear” for nearly every scenario.

While my personal style is more classic and timeless, I love an unexpected pop of color, embroidery, folksy pattern, or ruffle. I’m obsessed with texture and details. I’m delighted by an almost hidden grosgrain ribbon detail or a fanciful lining in a coat. My super-power is knowing what will flatter any body shape. I believe everyone needs to be reminded to revisit new colors as we’re all guilty of getting into a rut. If a dress has pockets, I might clap my hands and jump a little bit. And I am always on the hunt for a good deal!

My Approach

I believe in authenticity first and foremost. Have you been lucky enough to experience a moment when you’re wearing something and just feel great, like it truly reflects your true essence? Well for most people that happens rarely if at all. I want to help people feel that way as often as possible.

Companies have brand identities that conveys who they are to their customers. I believe we all have a personal brand and our style can externally reflect who we are in the inside. When you embrace and express your personal style, you project individuality, authenticity and confidence.

My philosophy for building a wardrobe is to start with a solid foundation of quality essential pieces that will never go out of style. From there, I build on seasonal items, unique articles that reflect an individual’s personality, and then a few on-trend/current, fun (not necessarily pricey) pieces that can cycle in and out. I don’t believe designer items are always best, but good craftsmanship is. I don’t believe we need “more” in our wardrobe, just the right items. Everything in your closet should serve you, be beautiful, or both.

When I pick out an item, I always ask myself, “where am I going in this?” Because, what good is a new top that sits in your closet with nowhere to go? Shopping for your real lifestyle is key.
